Rancho La Quinta Country Club

Two private 18-hole courses inside one Trans West-developed guard-gated country club.

Overview

Rancho La Quinta Country Club sits on the north side of La Quinta off Washington Street. It was developed by Trans West Housing beginning in the early 1990s and grew across the decade as two full 18-hole private courses came online — the Jones Course (Robert Trent Jones Jr., opened 1993) and the Pate Course (Jerry Pate, opened later in the 1990s). The club is member-owned, guard-gated, and organized as a full-service country club with a clubhouse, tennis, pickleball, fitness and dining. Real estate spans attached casitas near the entrance to larger single-family estates on the fairways of both courses, which gives the community one of the wider price bands among La Quinta private clubs. Buyers tend to be a mix of seasonal second-home owners and full-time residents; the daily lifestyle inside the gate is meaningfully more social and family-oriented than the flagship private clubs to the south.

The two courses

The Jones Course is the older of the two — a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design that opened in 1993 and reads more traditional in its bunkering and green complexes. The Pate Course, added later in the 1990s by Jerry Pate, plays firmer and lower, with more water in play on the interior holes. Members typically rotate between the two, and the two-course footprint is one of the strongest arguments for Rancho La Quinta versus single-course private clubs in the same price band.

The real estate mix

Rancho La Quinta has one of the widest product mixes of any La Quinta private club — from attached casitas near the front gate to substantial single-family estates on the outer fairways. That breadth is why the community shows up in a wider price band than most of the flagship clubs on this site, and why it is often a fit for buyers who want a country-club lifestyle without the entry point of Madison, Hideaway or Andalusia.
